The Alorians are a people who have survived many hardships, and in doing so have flourished. They are characterized by a distinct focus on warrior culture, striving for self improvement, and a culture with deep ties to the Japanese way of life. Their long history in the land of Aloria is what creates our current story. After a series of internal conflicts, the land they called home was abandoned. In the absence of the people who maintained her halls, Aloria has fallen to the darkness within.
Once a united people, the Alorians are divided into semi-tribal/clan based groups. The composition of each group has changed drastically as each clan has explored the world beyond the borders of their home. Some have adopted western weapons and ideas, others have created systems of leadership that rival the old hierarchy. Three notable factions have arisen:
Onna Bushi
The female warriors under the command of Shizuru are notorious for being the equal of any man. Their tight knit social structure is apparent to any who observe, despite a slight social aversion to the male dominated troops.
Alorian Guard
The private guard of Duwinayo, and a group of highly skilled archers and swordsman with no parallel. Distinguished by distinctive blue armor and having recently adopted the more Emerian looking garb (clothing that is warmer, thicker, and overall easier to move and survive in harsh climates within), an unwavering sense of loyalty, and a pension for appearing when least expected. On the field these warriors focus on picking off single, high value targets, and operate in small highly coordinated teams. Street to street fighting is where they excel (as well as the tight corridors of the Courts).
Kiheitai
The warriors who were drafted, drilled, and polished to serve under Shotaku. The Kiheitai (irregular militia) are a mysterious bunch compared to the more traditional warriors that fill the field. Shotaku favors a highly organized approach to combat, even going so far as to dictate what weapons are to be used. The Kiheitai favor the latest muskets paired with long yari to keep opponents at bay while reloading. This combination has produced a deadly efficiency that Shotaku has wielded to great effect, earning him a place at Duwinayo's side.
While each faction represents different styles of leadership, different approaches to the reclaiming of Aloria, they still maintain a core loyalty to Duwinayo and the land of Aloria itself... For the time being.
